    • Physical Fitness

      Strength & Conditioning

Excellence on snow starts with athleticism off the mountain. Our year-round strength and conditioning programs help athletes build the movement skills, endurance, strength, and power needed to perform at their best.

Our athletes train with experienced sports performance coaches who have spent decades working with elite snow sport athletes. Physical fitness not only improves performance on the hill, but also helps athletes stay healthy, recover faster, and enjoy the sports they love for years to come.

Training is designed to develop athletic awareness and coordination while building strong foundational movement patterns that support long-term athletic development. Athletes improve both aerobic and anaerobic conditioning as they increase strength, stability, and power in a progressive, sport-focused environment that also emphasizes injury prevention and overall physical resilience.

Select dryland training is available in Winter Park and the front range for athletes preparing for the upcoming ski & ride season.

    • RETURN TO SPORT (RTS) PROGRAM

The goal of the Return to Sport (RTS) Program is to support injured athletes through every stage of rehabilitation, recovery, and a safe, confident return to sport.

Injury can bring physical, emotional, and social challenges. The RTS Team is here to help athletes navigate that process while staying connected, supported, and motivated throughout recovery.

      Key areas of support include:

-Building social connection and reducing feelings of isolation from teammates and sport

      -Managing fear of re-injury

-Maintaining motivation during rehabilitation and physical therapy

-Supporting mental wellness and stress management throughout recovery

-Rebuilding confidence as athletes transition back into training and competition

For many athletes, skiing and snowboarding are important outlets for stress relief and personal identity. Time away from sport can impact mood, behavior, sleep, nutrition, and overall wellness. Our program recognizes the importance of supporting the whole athlete — not just the injury.
The Winter Park Competition Center takes concussion injuries very seriously. All concussion return-to-sport protocols are managed in accordance with Colorado state guidelines to ensure athlete safety and long-term health.

Learn more about the concussion return-to-sport protocol.
WPCC is proud to partner with outstanding physicians, medical practices, and rehabilitation specialists who support our athletes across a wide range of healthcare needs, including concussion care, orthopedics, physical therapy, and general sports medicine and wellness. Visit our Preferred Providers tab to learn more about our trusted medical partners and the resources available to support athlete health, recovery, and performance.

      Sports Nutrition
Fueling Performance, Recovery & Long-Term Athlete Health

    • sPorts Performance Psychology

      Sports Performance Psychology
Building Confidence, Focus & Mental Resilience

Mental performance is a key part of athletic success. WPCC’s Sports Performance Psychology program helps athletes develop the mindset, confidence, and focus needed to perform at their best in training, competition, and everyday life.

Our athlete-centered approach supports both performance and personal growth, helping athletes build healthy habits, improve consistency, and learn to perform under pressure.

      Mental Skills Development

Athletes work on practical mental performance skills that support success both on and off the mountain, including:

      Confidence and self-belief
      Focus and concentration
      Goal setting and motivation
      Stress and anxiety management
      Emotional regulation
      Resilience and mental toughness
      Competition preparation and recovery
      Self-talk and visualization
      Handling pressure and overcoming setbacks

      On-Hill Mental Performance Coaching

On-hill consultation gives athletes the opportunity to apply mental skills directly in their training environment. This in-the-moment coaching helps athletes transfer techniques learned in sessions to real performance situations on the mountain.

      Biofeedback Training

WPCC integrates advanced biofeedback training as part of our sports performance program. Using tools that measure heart rate, respiration, muscle tension, skin conductance, and skin temperature, athletes gain a deeper understanding of how their bodies respond to stress and pressure.

Biofeedback sessions provide real-time insight into the mind-body connection, helping athletes improve self-regulation, recover more quickly from stress, and develop greater control in high-pressure environments.

      Program Benefits

      Athletes learn how to:

      Build confidence in competitive environments
Stay focused during training and competition
      Manage adversity and setbacks
      Develop positive performance routines
      Improve communication and self-awareness
Balance athletics, academics, and daily life demands

      Who It’s For

Designed for competitive athletes looking to improve performance, mindset, and consistency both on and off the mountain. These skills also help parents learn how to positively support their athlete and coaches develop more effective communication and leadership strategies. Sport psychology supports the growth and performance of the entire athletic community — athletes, parents, and coaches alike.

      Additional Resources

Athlete logbooks, available for purchase in the Winter Park Competition Center office, include self-assessments, goal-setting sections, on-snow training logs, competition logs, mental performance tools, and end-of-season reflections designed to support athlete development throughout the season.

Athletes and families also have access to sports psychology resources including recommended apps, podcasts, books, and blogs that support continued mental skills development throughout the season.
