WINTER PARK COMPETITION CENTER FULLTIME ACADEMY
SNOWBOARD TEAM APPLICATION DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER 1st, 2016
Admittance to the Winter Park Competition Center (WPCC) Fulltime Academy is through an application process. If you are interested in enrolling in the WPCC Fulltime Academy program, please contact to Nic Nagel, Snowboard program director at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The WPST Full-Time program is designed for those athletes who have demonstrated a high level of dedication to snowboarding and competing in USASA competitions and who want to take their riding to the next level. Full-time athletes exhibit the drive and desire to pursue high level events such as the USSA Revolution Tour and USSA Grand Prix events, whether they are ready for these events immediately or have ambitions to compete in these events in the future. WPST coaches work with each rider to determine what events to attend based on ability, age, interest, goals, and maturity/sportsmanship.
During the winter season, full-time athletes ages 11-13 (middle school) are on-hill from 1-4pm on Tues/Thurs and are on-hill 9-3:30 F/Sa/Su, with supervised study/athletic science programs on Wednesdays. Fulltime athletes ages 14+ (high school/post-grad) are on-hill 1-4pm T-W-Th and 9-3:30 on F/Sat/Sun. All Fulltime athletes are expected to participate in camp, workshop and training opportunities provided through the Competition Center’s Athletic Science program during the season. Off-season activities (e.g. summer camps) are strongly encouraged but are not included in program cost (April 9-Oct. 31).
The full-time program is open to middle and high school students, as well as college-age athletes.
Full-time participants must be in 6th grade or higher to participate.
Must demonstrate proper stance and edging techniques on advanced terrain (all mountain and in the parks/pipe), riding both switch and regular.
Must have been competing in USASA events for at least one season.
