Admittance to the Winter Park Competition Center (WPCC) Fulltime Academy is through an application process. If you are interested in enrolling in the WPCC Fulltime Academy program, please contact Jessica Jortberg, Nordic Program Director at firstname.lastname@example.org
This year-round program is dedicated to athletes U16 and up that want to develop their skiing to the highest caliber within a supportive and fun team environment. The team will train regularly from September- April and athletes will be able to attend numerous on and off snow camps. Athletes will have access to full time coaches, a comprehensive training plan with emphasis on sports physiology and proper training zones, nutrition advice, strength training, sports psychology, and technique work.
Both classic and skate technique will be emphasized and required as a part of practice in order to help the athlete become a better all-around skier.
From beginner to advanced skiers, athletes will learn to classic and skate ski with efficiency and proper fundamentals. The team will have opportunities to attend a fall training camp in West Yellowstone, Rocky Mountain Nordic races throughout Colorado, a Junior National Super Qualifier in Soldier Hollow, Utah, Junior and Senior Nationals, and Spring Series.
Practice in the winter will be in the afternoon on Tuesdays-Thursdays and in the mornings Friday-Sunday. Academy athletes will also have strength conditioning or supplemental recovery workouts throughout the week in addition to on-snow practice. High school athletes enrolled in the East Grand School District will have schedules arranged for core classes to take place in the morning, and student-athletes will be transported to the ski area around lunchtime for afternoon training.
Dates: August 28 (dryland) - March 25 , 2018, practice will be Tuesday- Sunday.
