AGES 13+

The Winter Park Freestyle Team is arguably the strongest team in the country.  Last season, one of our premier athletes, Bruce Perry was named to the US Freestyle Ski Team and participated in his first two World Cups.  We qualified three athletes for Junior World Championships.  Bruce Perry and Casey Andringa unfortunately suffered injuries, and were unable to attend.  Joel Hedrick, currently the number one junior in the country, did attend, capturing 4th and 6th places.  Our Nor-Am team is the largest in the country and continues to place athletes on the podium on this demanding tour.  If you are a committed athlete looking to excel in the sport of freestyle moguls, Winter Park is the place to train, boasting a full-length, FIS specification mogul course right at the base December - April, 2 permanent aerial sites, and 3 additional mogul courses on the mountain.

The Freestyle Competitive Team is a competitive program emphasizing the development of technical skills necessary to excel in freestyle skiing. Building a strong technical base for mogul skiing will allow the skiers to perform at their best in the mogul arena. Consistent aerial training on our own aerial or mogul course is incorporated into their training regime for a total freestyle package. State of the art training technology in physical conditioning, sport psychology, video analysis, goal setting and planning assist each athlete on the road to excellence.

Skiers will be grouped according to age and ability and work with a primary coach throughout the season. This is a competitive program and athletes must be willing to put forth a great deal of commitment and motivation to attain their personal best. Freestyle Competitive Team provides three days of training per week for freestyle skiers ages 13 and older. The team takes full advantage of its time on snow by blending free skiing skills with regular training in moguls and freestyle aerials. This team competes on the USSA Freestyle circuit in the Rocky Mountain Division Series in Colorado and USSA JO's if the athlete qualifies. Athletes looking for extra training opportunities should try our spring trampoline camps, summer water ramp camps, on snow camps and fall conditioning sessions.

Must be 13 years of age by 12/31/2015. Must be proficient linking short radius turns on blue black and black terrain. Must demonstrate proper stance and edging techniques on blue terrain. Must be ready and willing to start working on aerials skills in the terrain parks, mogul courses and aerial site. All Skiers will need to purchase USSA and RMD competitors license and will compete in their recommended events.
