The Athletic Science Program is designed to help our athletes reach their highest potential. While on-snow training is our primary focus, there are many things an athlete can do off the hill to push their game to the next level! Once an athlete's boots come off, everything they do before they put them on again falls under the umbrella of athletic science. Whether an athlete needs an individualized, sport-specific exercise program, time to work on their mental game, injury rehabilitation, or nutrition information to stay fueled up on and off the hill, our Athletic Science Program is here to help all our athletes achieve excellence!
The Winter Park Competition Center's Athletic Science Program is coordinated by Freddy Mooney, who is also the head coach of our Freestyle Mogul program. Freddy Mooney grew up training and competing with the Competition Center, and has been involved on some level with all on-snow disciplines. After 6 years on the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team, Freddy graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in exercise physiology. Since graduating in 2008, he has attained additional certifications and worked with elite skiers and cyclists as a strength and conditioning coach. The goal held by Freddy and the Competition Center is to make our Athletic Science program an integral part of training for our athletes. By focusing on the physical, nutritional, and psychological aspects of the sport, our athletes are given the tools to achieve great successes as athletes and people!
