TEAM DISCOVERY (AGES 6-14)
Team Discovery is a Saturday training program that provides budding young ski racers the start they need to become great skiers. Our goal is to develop solid all-around skiing skills by using a variety of drills and progressions taking advantage of all the mountain's terrain. Team Discovery is an appropriate stepping stone from ATP Devo and NASTAR recreational racing into the entry level USSA (US Ski Association) Youth Ski League series races. Strong skiers that can ski all of the terrain on the mountain but have never been in a racing or teaching program can also start here. Skiers are grouped by age and their ability during the first weeks of the season, and ski with the same professional coaches throughout the season for consistency and individual attention.

The focus of this group is to enjoy and excel in the Smartwool USSA series within the Rocky Mountain Division. Don't forget about the Loveland Derby at the end of the season. This is a race focused on costumes and fun and a little bit on ski racing. Great FUN!

The competition of the J5 group consists of at home events such as "The Raging Age Class Team Series," the divisional Age Class events, NASTAR, and specific J5 USSA races. Always a great social group, the team travels to events including Age Class USSA races, Jr. Olympic Qualifiers and either the Divisional J3 Championships (Council Cup) or the Regional J3 Championships (J3 Jr. Olympics). Other events may include attending Smartwool and Collegiate invitational races where the athletes are introduced to USSA points races. Full-Time Team Winter Park
Full-time Team Winter Park is a highly intensive program dedicated to the serious, motivated and experienced racer. Our program offers a forum where dedicated athletes can achieve their highest aspirations in sport. The team trains regularly September through April with several optional summer camps and projects both on and off snow. Participants also take part in supervised dryland sessions throughout the summer and fall.
Winter training takes place in the afternoons on Tuesdays through Thursdays, and all day Fridays through Sundays. (East Grand Middle School students train the above days except for Wednesdays.) Middle school and high school athletes enroll in the East Grand School District where schedules are arranged for core classes to take place in the morning, and student/athletes are transported to the ski area at lunch time for afternoon training. East Grand is on a 4-day school week, so skiers have a full day of training on Friday - it doesn't get any better!
Post graduate athletes will train on some weekday mornings for more individually focused sessions. On-snow training in Colorado begins in late October off-site and the first weekend of November at Winter Park. Training takes place mainly on our FIS race trails, but we're able to move all over the mountain to practice on a variety of terrain for upcoming events.
The full-time program has helped develop members of the United States Ski Team, Junior World Championships competitors, NCAA All-Americans and numerous Junior Olympic medalists.
Full-time Team Winter Park requires advance approval from the head coach. Commitment and attitude are the most important attributes we're looking for; with dedication and a positive outlook, skiing performance will take care of itself. In addition to the program registration, new skiers to the full-time program contact the Competition Center to obtain coach approval to join the full-time program.

Summer Camps
In the more than twenty years that Team Winter Park has conducted summer camps, we have seen amazing turnarounds in the skiing of our camp participants. Summer camps are an excellent place for athletes to immerse themselves in the sport that they love, without the pressures of racing and school. The environment is more relaxed, the weather is warm, and there is more time to spend on the fundamentals of the sport. There is also time to build stronger relationships with teammates and coaches and to engage in fun activities off the ski hill as well as on-snow. We welcome skiers from other teams to join our camps, and often new friendships develop that last through seasons to come. We encourage you to read about our camps below, and hope you can join us this summer for some great skiing, and more!
MEMORIAL DAY CAMP
Kick-off the "new" racing season with close-to-home and cost-effective Alpine agility camp in Winter Park and Fraser. Our focus is on developing fun and creative dryland activities for the athletes that can be continued through the summer and fall as prep for skiing next season.
